Your comments do not go into a black hole! I look at our customer service section many times each day, so you won't need to wait long for a reply.
No - you pay when you collect the equipment. To make a booking online you just need to provide some contact details.
Because we're focused on keeping costs down, applying a pricing formula that is based on the actual cost of the equipment, and simply giving you a break!
Rest assured that lower pricing does not mean lower quality equipment. All of our gear is purchased new and specifically for hire. We aim to keep the age of lenses and camera bodies as young as possible.
Not usually, but you need to be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen, and you'll need proof of this (your passport, Citizenship certificate or a statement from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship). You'll also need proof of your current address and a valid credit card, which will be validated and photocopied. The photocopy of your credit card will be held for the duration of your booking.
A deposit or bank guarantee may be requested in circumstances where the hire is considered unusually risky. There is no definitive definition of risky but a deposit could be requested where, for example, you've booked a range of expensive equipment for your first booking etc.
You will be advised as soon as possible after making your booking if a security deposit is required.
If you don't have your own insurance cover, or you do but it does not sufficiently cover hired equipment, we have a damage waiver option available on all hires where the hired equipment is worth more than $500.
The damage waiver adds 15% to the cost of your hire and limits your liability for accidental damage to $500. The damage waiver does not cover theft or losing the equipment. The equipment must also be identifiable as ours through serial numbers in order for the damage waiver to apply.
It's a little flexible. One day includes one overnight, either at the beginning of the hire period or at the end. Two days includes two overnights, and so on. Weekends are a special case - when you book for both Saturday and Sunday you can collect bookings late Friday afternoon and return by midday Monday.
For example, if you book something for one day, a Friday, you can either pick it up late Thursday afternoon and return it by the end of Friday (subject to the equipment being returned by any previous customer by that time), or you can pick it up on Friday and return first thing on Saturday morning.
Let's take a weekend booking as another example. You want to hire something for Saturday and Sunday, so you book for those two days. As the weekend is a special case, you can collect your booking late Friday afternoon (usually from 3pm onwards) and return it by midday Monday.
All other two, or two plus day bookings follow the one overnight per booked day measure.
If you're looking for the legal terms and conditions applicable to hiring our camera equipment, you'll always find the latest version at http://www.benshire.com.au/hire-agreement/.
You can cancel your booking without charge anytime prior to the first day of your booking. You can do this by following the modify/cancel link in your booking confirmation email. Cancellations made on or after the first day of your booking incur a fee equal to one day hire of the equipment booked.
If you make a booking and don't show up by the end of the first day of the booking, you'll be considered a no-show and this incurs the same fee not cancelling before the first day of your booking - one day hire of the equipment booked.
Please cancel as early as possible so that other customers may re-book the equipment you no longer want.
On this page you can request a list via email of all the bookings you have made with your email address. In the email that is sent you will find a link that shows all of the bookings you have made in the last 6 months laid out in the form of a week by week calendar.
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, debit cards and cash. Direct credit into the Ben's Camera Hire bank account is also available upon request.
Credit terms are available to Australian businesses for hires over $350. Please email me to apply for a credit account.
